About Gemma

Gemma is the founder of Gemstone Natural Therapies. She has worked as a Registered Nurse for 15 years specialising in Burns and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Intensive Care.

Gemma brings a wealth of experience to her clinic and uses her Nursing background to assist with her treatments especially medical conditions and post surgical cases. This has been a big advantage to Pregnancy, Lymphatic and Scar therapies and also Emmett treatments.  

Services Offered

• Remedial Massage: This style of massage holistically looks at the entire body, with its focus being the treatment of pain/discomfort, structural dysfunctions and helping in injury rehabilitation. The pressure in remedial massage can be at times deeper than in relaxation massage, but we always work within tolerable boundaries for the client.
• Emmett Technique: Is known as a 'Neuromuscular' release. This is light finger pressure on specific points on the body, to release a targeted muscle group. This muscle release therapy is perfect for those who experience muscle discomfort or pain caused by many aspects of everyday life. Whether your pain is caused by poor posture, repetitive strain injury or personal training.
• Emmett for Kids: This is a specialised, non-invasive gentle treatment for children who may experience balance issues, lack of focus, growing pains, sore muscles, jaw issues, night terrors, constipation & bed wetting. We explain our treatment to the parents and demonstrate how gentle this treatment is.
• Emmett for Babies: This is a specialised, non-invasive gentle treatment for babies experiencing wind, constipation, colic, reflux, torticollis (difficulty turning head), latching difficulties and tongue tie. We explain our treatment to the babies parents and demonstrate how gentle this treatment is.
• Manual Lymphatic Drainage: Is a type of manual manipulation of the skin, not to be confused with massage, based on the hypothesis that it will encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart.
• Scar Tissue Therapy: Is a gentle and effective technique used to decrease discomfort, fascial adhesions, dark colouring or congestion of scar tissue.
• Pregnancy Massage: this is a specialised massage for the expectant Mum. We do not have a time restraint on when the pregnancy massage can’t be done as our treatments are gentle and safe for both Mum and Bub. We specialise in releasing the deep hip muscles to relieve discomfort but also assist the baby to engage more effectively in preparation for delivery or caesarian.
• Hot Stone Massage: This is a decadent specialised massage that incorporates the use of Hot Stones in with your massage. The benefits of this treatment is the heat from the stones increases the blood flow and heats up the muscles making it easier for your Therapist to release the knots and tension built up in your body. A truely decadent treatment.
