Description of Training

The Antenatal Emmett Technique course is a specialised course for Professionals working with pregnant women.This weekend goes through the Foundation of Emmett Technique, where it came from, its principles along with introduction on how to apply the Technique to the expectant Mother and prepare her for the delivery by learning how to release the deep core muscles in the hips and prepare baby to engage effectively in the birth canal.   

How the Training is Delivered

This workshop is a 'hands on,' practical learning experience. Your local Australasian Instructor Gemma will be going over each technique and providing a description of the indications of the moves followed by a clinical demonstration. The moves presented will then be practiced by the group with supervision of the instructor. After the practice with the new move there is a group discussion and feedback on what students have discovered, felt and all questions will be answered. Students are encouraged to wear light, loose clothing to access the points more easily.

Training Topics Covered

The following muscle releases are covered in this level: 

1. Iliacus - assists with hip alignment
2. Psoas - assists with hip alignment
3. Adductor - assists with hip tension
4. Gracilis - assists with hip tension
5. Sacroiliac joint - assists with hip pain
6. Iliotibial band - Assists with hip tension
7. Diaphragm -  assist the expectant Mother with deeper breathing
8. Gastrocnemius - assists with swelling / oedema in the legs

• The Cairns course is currently held at the Cairns Sheridan Hotel. Parking is available at the premises and you can access it via Sheridan or McLeod St.
